SysMaster Adds H.264 Video Compression Support for Exceptional IPTV Quality

Dramatic Improvements Demand no Additional Bandwidth Relative to MPEG4

WALNUT CREEK, CA, September 20, 2006 – SysMaster Corporation, the California-based leader in VoIP, IPTV, and Wireless products and solutions, has added advanced H.264 video compression support to its array of resources and offerings for service providers.

Also known as Advanced Video Coding (AVC), H.264 video compression is an innovative standard that enables delivery of high quality video at bit rates substantially lower relative to previous MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) standards, such as MPEG2 and MPEG4. A major objective of the H.264 standards is to achieve higher compression with moderate increase in complexity, so that H.264 implementations do not become prohibitively expensive.

SysMaster’s IPTV products were originally designed to support widely used MPEG4 compression, which allows delivery of high quality video over standard DSL and cable lines. Now, improved H.264 compression capabilities will enable service providers to deliver even higher video quality, including High Definition Television (HDTV) to their subscribers over those same lines without having to upgrade or add expensive bandwidth. Simple to implement and affordable, H.264 compression helps providers offer IPTV, Video-on-Demand, Pay-per-View and other triple play services over broadband lines with minimal capital investment, for greater revenue, customer satisfaction and competitive advantage.

Currently, SysMaster's support for H.264 video codec is available in its comboSwitch and iptvSwitch products. The company plans to release support for H.264 in its consumer premises device, Tornado M10, in the first quarter of 2007.
