comboSwitch Media Concentrator is a robust and scalable audio and video encoder designed for implementation in IP TV, Video-on-Demand, Audio-on-Demand, and Pay-per-View infrastructure. The product receives audio and video feeds from multiple sources and performs audio/video encoding, transcoding, and transrating. A single comboSwitch server can encode/transcode to MPEG-4 format up to 3 real-time video streams. The advanced technology empowering the product enables it to deliver high quality MPEG-4 video at less than 800Kbps bandwidth usage. comboSwitch can be combined with VoiceMaster Content Management and Billing Platform and iptvSwitch Streaming server for a turnkey, web-managed broadband content delivery solution.

Real-time encoding/transcoding of up to 3 video streams

A single comboSwitch Media Concentrator can encode/transcode up to 3 video streams in real-time. The product can receive video feeds in AVI, MPEG-1, or MPEG-2 formats and convert them to MPEG-4, thus reducing bandwidth requirement per stream.

Direct transcoding of satellite and cable feeds to MPEG-4 format

Service providers with existing satellite TV feed infrastructure can easily upgrade to MPEG-4 compression without changing their existing equipment. comboSwitch Media Concentrator offers on-board transcoding capabilities which allow it to convert MPEG-2 signals from satellite feeds into MPEG-4 without any additional equipment.

Support for MPEG-4, MP3, AAC, and PCM encoding/transcoding

comboSwitch Media Concentrator features multiple formats for compression of audio and video streams. The product supports the most advanced MPEG-4 video compression standard and the popular PCM, MP3 and AAC audio compression methods. The product can convert different formats into MPEG-4 low-bandwidth streams for enhanced IP TV services.

Bandwidth optimized MPEG-4 encoding

comboSwitch Media Concentrator features optimized video compression, enabling optimal video quality in any IP network infrastructure. The product can produce MPEG-4 compressed video streams requiring as low as 750kbps bandwidth per stream at 640x480 and 320x240 VGA resolutions.

Live feed MPEG-4 encoding from virtually any source

comboSwitch Media Concentrator offers maximum compatibility with existing audio/video formats and can practically encode video content from any source. The server can handle TV, cable, and satellite feeds as well as media files in various formats, such as AVI, MPEG-1, and MPEG-2.

Web-based remote management

Despite its rich functionality, comboSwitch Media Concentrator is extremely easy to administer and operate. The product comes with advanced GUI based admin console, enabling system administrators to perform all necessary product setup and maintenance tasks remotely through a browser.

Supports unlimited media streaming servers

comboSwitch Media Concentrator can support unlimited media streaming servers, such as iptvSwitch, in LAN environment with multicast stream distribution. In addition, the system can support multiple media streaming server in WAN environment via unicast UDP content distribution method.
